WATCH ME!

Start every training session by getting your dog’s attention.  There is no point spending time training your dog if he is not focussed on you.  The “WATCH ME” exercise is a great way to get your dog’s attention.  To do this you will need a high value food reward like sausage, cheese or chicken etc. or your dog’s favourite toy.

• Hold the food/toy close to your dog’s nose then move it up to your eye area. 

• When your dog gives you eye contact, say the words “WATCH ME” and reward with the treat/toy.

• You can progress this exercise by holding eye contact longer before you reward your dog.
