SIT! DOWN! STAND!
To have a well controlled dog, the three commands are every day necessities, in and out of your home!
THE SIT
Hold a treat close to your dog’s nose.
Raise the treat above his head and slightly backwards until the dog goes into the SIT position.
Reward with the titbit.
When he is reliably going into the SIT position, introduce the word “SIT”.
Reward with the titbit as soon as he is in the SIT position and then finish the exercise using your “finishing command”.
THE DOWN
From the sit position, lower your titbit down between your dog’s front paws.
Move the treat slightly forward on the ground until your dog goes into the DOWN position.
Reward with the titbit.
When he is reliably going into the DOWN position, introduce the word “DOWN”.
Reward with the titbit as soon as he is in the DOWN position and then finish the exercise using your “finishing command”.
THE STAND
From the sit position hold your titbit in front of your dog’s nose.
Slowly move it forward in line with the dog’s nose until he is in the STAND position.
Reward with the titbit.
When he is reliably going into the STAND position, introduce the word “STAND”.
Reward with the titbit as soon as he is in the STAND position and then finish the exercise using your “finishing command”.
